After the cessation of hostilities the One Srilanka Foundation has been very active in assisting the IDP camps in the north of Srilanka.
After sending the initial shipments of milk food and emergency supplies for infants and children through the Red Cross we have been actively helping the people in the camps with the assistance of the government authorities.
These projects are done in collaboration with Hayleys PLC and MASL (UK). The project has been coordinated and executed by Professor Harendra, who is on the Board of our Srilankan affiliate. We are immensely grateful for Professor Harendra’s tireless efforts in working with the other team members and the government authorities to help the IDP camp occupants.
We have been specifically targeting areas where there are immediate requirements for providing relief. The first of these efforts was to provide undergarments which were urgently required for the female occupants of the camps on the recommendations of some of the doctors and epidemiologists. The second was to provide assistance on some agricultural projects to help the people cultivate the neighboring lands. The third one was to support the efforts in setting up a water purification system to prevent gastrointestinal infections.
